The Day the Guinea Pigs Went Missing, Chad V. Broughman, Harbor Springs, MI

The Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society, Inc. is pleased to announce the results of the 2017 William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition. The total number of short stories entered this year was 263 of which 111 entries were head and shoulders above the remainder. Finalists selected total 64 from which the Short List of 16 was compiled. An additional 47 entries placed as semi-finalists. The entries included 105 from New Orleans and other Louisiana communities, 145 from other states and U. S. territories, and 13 from foreign countries. 

And the winner is...



The winner of the 2017 Adobe Cottage Writer's Retreat Fiction Contest is Chad V. Broughman of Michigan, for his coming-of-age literary short story titled “Uriah’s Last Rites.” 

He spent a week at the writer’s cottage in Placitas, New Mexico with coaching from bestselling authors Susan Donovan and Darynda Jones. Check out more information here:
